All - Nick Bell and I are putting together a group ride to Big Bend National Park, the schedule of which is below. Meetup limits posts to 2k characters, to not all the info can go into a single post, so if you're interested, please contact me for full details.
However, in brief, on day one, we intend to do most of the loop around the Twisted Sisters (WNW of San Antonio), and overnight in nearby Rocksprings. On day two, with stops at the Pecos High Bridge and Langtry, we will ride up to and loop around the McDonald Observatory and back down to Alpine to overnight there. On day three, we’ll ride down into BBNP and return to Alpine to overnight there once again (see option below). And, on day four or day five, the long and fairly direct trek back to Houston.
I believe we can manage eight (8) additional riders (with passengers if so desired), though we may need to break into two groups if all ten slots are filled.
Depart: 3/26 from Buccees Katy, time to be finalized later.
First day / night, 3/26 to and overnight in Rocksprings
Second day / night, 3/27 to and overnight in Alpine
Third day / night, 3/28 to and around BBNP, back to Alpine
Optional Fourth day / night, 3/29 to and around BBNP, back to Alpine
Return (dependent on Optional Fourth Night) 3/29 or 3/30
I'm staying at the Historic Rocksprings Hotel (713-515-2780) and the Hampton Inn Alpine (432-837-7344). The HRH does not require a CC and the Hampton Inn Alpine are not answering their phone, but their website says they have rooms for those dates.
The rooms currently available at the HRH are:
Downstairs: #100, a 2 bedroom x 1 bath set of joined rooms, 1 w/ 2 beds, & 1 w/ 1 bed.
Upstairs Rooms: #202 (1 x queen), #208 (2 x full), #210 (2 x full), #211 (1 x king), & #212 (1 x queen).
