I received a text from Ijaz Khan, a ride leader with the West Powersports Enthusiasts group who was riding with Tarek. He will provide me with updates. Here is his message:

"I just spoke with Tarek’s Family, I finally got the courage to ask them if we can come on motorcycles with gear to honor Tarek on his final journey. Mrs. Tarek love the idea & she was actually expecting us to come on motorcycles since Tarek always loved motorcycles. There will be police escort from the Mosque to cemetery.

"If you are planning to come to Funeral, please make sure to wear full gear ( no jackets with offensive patches or naked figures). Please dress appropriately.

"There will be an event to celebrate Tarek’s life after the funeral, You are all invited to that event as well. I will share the mosque’s address & timing as I receive them from the family as well to all members.

"Thank you so much"

I participated in many rides that Tarek designed and led, usually joining up at his first fuel stop. He was the most pleasant and patient fellow, and his rides were the most enjoyable routes. I always looked forward to receiving the club emails that would announce his next ride and route.

I hope to attend any service that may be scheduled this week.

Sincerely,

Kevin Graulty

The most recent update is that Tarek's family could not return his body today from Little Rock due to airline availability. He will most likely be brought back on Monday or Tuesday.

According to Muslim tradition his funeral will be held the same day. There will be a police escort from the Mosque to the cemetery.

If you would like to attend please clear your schedule for Tuesday as notice may be short on time and location.

I am getting updates indirectly but trying to keep the club membership informed here thru the forums for widest dissemination.
